The Tale of Mrs Tittlemouse Peter Rabbit Beatrix Potter Books
I received this edition having previously purchased Potter series books with white covers and printed in italy. This printed in China edition makes for a very sad comparison. The Italian editions are nothing short of beautiful. The paper is smooth, every illustration has better contrast; the colors are richer. The typography on the cover, first few pages and the binder just looks better. The font sizes and arrangements are chosen perfectly.
At the same time the Canadian and UK price printed on the book have gone up a dollar and a pound respectively. US price stayed the same. A little strange when the Canadian dollar has been appreciating over the US dollar over the period.
Potter's books are a national treasure; it's so sad to see the publisher's so blatantly cash in by reducing their costs and at the same time putting up the price. Ka-ching.
I have many beautifully produced Printed in China books. It's nothing against China per se. But the quality control on this edition vs. the previous one is just not there.
Tip to readers: look out for the previous edition with a white cover, printed in Italy. A far superior product.

The Tale of Mrs Tittlemouse Peter Rabbit Beatrix Potter Books Reviews
Sometimes a story is what you need to stop and remember many things in life that are important and many things we forget to remember the value of patience, gratitude and helping each other,
Wonderful old story with very British vocabulary.
The format for this particular edition of the book is very small. I would recommend a bigger size for reading with children.
I will never tire of these stories. I don’t remember anyone reading books to me as a child, so I’m having a good time enjoying them as an adult.
Five stars for a story that I've known and loved since childhood -- now some seventy years gone by. "The Tailor of Gloucester" fits in quite nicely with the other "Christmas Classics" Dickens' " Christmas Carol," and "Mr. Pickwick's Christmas;" O. Henry's "Gift of the Magi;" and van Dyke's "The Story of The Other Wiseman."
Compared to my eighty-something years old copy, the binding appears to be equal, if somewhat different. The color plates -- remade, I am given to understand -- are superb.
I bought this as a Christmas present. Do your Christmas shopping early!
Be forewarned the version has only the text, not the wonderful illustrations by Beatrix Potter. The story is sweet, but without the author's famous watercolors, it's really not the same book I read as a child. I gave this version two stars only because it was free---and I suppose I should have known anything free would be missing something. But I will be going to my local bookstore later today to pick up the real version of The Tailor of Gloucester, with its illustrations of the earnest little tailor and his mice assistants.
The Taylor of Gloucester is a well written fanciful tale enhanced by the charming COLOR illustrations by Beatrix Potter. This book actually has the essential elements of a story a setting, conflict, a plot and characters A mischievous cat, clever mice who can sing and sew, and a generous good-hearted tailor.
The kind tailor cuts out clothing for the mice using leftover scraps of fabric. The tailor is out of thread which he needs to complete a suit of clothes for the mayor and sends his cat to the store for a number of items including cherry colored twist, which the mouse-hungry conniving cat hides in the teapot. The tailor becomes ill, too ill to finish sewing the mayors coat. The cleaver mice sing and sew the garments for him and they complete all but one buttonhole. The guilty cat repents and gets the twist from the teapot and all ends well.
Unlike the illustrations in most of the current books of fiction for children, the colorful illustrations in this book are not only charming, they are inspiring.
Beatrix Potter self-published this story with one set of pictures and a lot more lines of text than her publisher would usually let her include. A year later Warne, her publisher put out the "authorized" version that you see 99% of the time. NEITHER version does justice to Potter's original art, some of which has been preserved and is visible online in various museum sites. But a century ago, the painting was considered a starting point for the lithographers and others involved in the printing process, and nobody expected to actually replicate the painting. When I saw this advertised, I was excited because i was hoping it would use the original paintings as well as the original text. What it uses is the original PRINTED version. So it will be different from the versions you've seen before, longer with different art. This makes it a worthwhile and inexpensive addition to any Beatrix Potter collection.
