Contrary to some of the bad reviews that I have been reading here, I did enjoy this book. In the beginning I didn't find much to like about Bailey. I have never liked passive 'walk on me, it's okay' people. But, it was interesting to see her grow into an independent and resourceful person. Matt, as a hero, was a little lacking in my opinion. He was okay but not up to Ms. Deveraux's usual gorgeous, take charge men. I found Jimmie's story intriguing but 'the Golden Six' storyline was a bit much. I just felt there were too many story lines going on and by eliminating the Golden Six, the book would have had a stronger, less confusing plot.Tags : The Mulberry Tree [Jude Deveraux] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. <I>She had a perfect life. A little different from others by this author, which is nice.
This was a real page turner that kept me reading non stop until the end. I read until late in the night and the first thing I thought of when I awoke was getting back to my to finish this book. The only reason why I didn't give this story a rating of 5 is due to the bad editing throughout every single page. I am not sure if this is something exclusive to it being a book but it was very irritating and distracting.
The characters were great and believable, however the story of the "golden six" was a bit confusing at times.
I would definitely recommend this book to a friend.
I am a huge fan, but this book is amazing. How does she keep all of the plots and mystery organized in her brain. It is a great book which I could not put down. I love the characters and the goodness of the heroine. This could be one of my favorites. It is not like the others, while I like the others I love this one beyond reason.
A book Favorite. Read it in paperback years ago and bought it in format to be able to read again ... and again.
The other one-star reviewers said it all very well. There is nothing to this book, really. Just a lot of tangled vines with nothing inside. Big disappointment.
Such an interesting book. How many of us think about going back to a certain time in our lives and think about what if. For me it is what if I had kept my daughter and not given her up for adoption. Or what if I could seen that adopting 6 children would turn out as it did would I chose to do it again or would I chose a different path. I really loved this book and each womans what if. A very good read.
I have read all but one of Jude Deveraux's books, and it is on my wish list . . . soon to be in my shopping cart! I have enjoyed all of Ms. Deveraux's books (particularly those into which she's mixed a heaping scoop of time travel and magic), and looked forward to "The Mulberry Tree" in spite of its "normalness." Well! It's been a long time since a book kept me awake most of the night, which is exactly what this one did. Once started, I couldn't put it down . . . couldn't mark my place and close it . . . and so I read it until I finished it in the wee small hours of the morning, and consequently overslept and missed church. Ah, well! It was worth it!! I've now happily handed it to a friend and advised her to make sure she has a good chunk of time to invest before opening it! When its done making the rounds, "The Mulberry Tree" will take its place on my shelf of favorite books. Grab it and enjoy it!
